Quale pace. Israele, la Palestina e noi. Se ne parla al Mercadante nell’ambito del ciclo di incontri promosso dal teatro nazionale di Napoli concentrati su temi attuali che riguardano la nostra vita, dalla politica alla società, passando per la cultura.
Protagonista, Anna Foa, esperta di storia ebraica e vincitrice del Premio Strega saggistica 2025. E infatti il punto di partenza del suo dialogo con lo scrittore Paolo Di Paolo sarà proprio il libro che si è aggiudicato il riconoscimento, “Il suicidio di Israele”, (Editori Laterza, 2024), un’analisi rigorosa e coraggiosa della crisi che attraversa lo Stato di Israele e del conflitto con la Palestina, dalle radici storiche del sionismo alle derive più recenti, dal ruolo della diaspora ebraica all’emergere di nuovi antisemitismi.
La conversazione verrà introdotta dal direttore artistico del teatro nazionale, Roberto Andò: un appuntamento di informazione e analisi dedicato al conflitto israelo-palestinese e alle prospettive di una pace giusta, tra storia e attualità, responsabilità di chi ha potere e ruolo dei cittadini.
Il ciclo di appuntamenti è stato inaugurato lo scorso novembre con la lezione di Massimo Cacciari dal titolo Segni di apocalisse. La catastrofe culturale dell’Occidente.

Mercadante Theatre/ Meeting with Anna Foa, winner of the 2025 Strega Prize for essay writing: What Peace for Israel, Palestine and the world?
What peace. Israel, Palestine and us. It will be discussed at the Mercadante as part of a series of meetings promoted by the National Theatre of Naples focusing on current issues affecting our lives, from politics to society and culture.
The leading figure is Anna Foa, an expert in Jewish history and winner of the 2025 Strega Prize for non-fiction. In fact, the starting point for her dialogue with writer Paolo Di Paolo will be the book that won the award, Il suicidio di Israele (The Suicide of Israel) (Editori Laterza, 2024), a rigorous and courageous analysis of the crisis facing the State of Israel and the conflict with Palestine, from the historical roots of Zionism to more recent developments, from the role of the Jewish diaspora to the emergence of new forms of anti-Semitism.
The conversation will be introduced by the artistic director of the national theatre, Roberto Andò: an event dedicated to information and analysis of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the prospects for a just peace, between history and current events, the responsibility of the powerful and the role of citizens.
The series of events was inaugurated last November by Massimo Cacciari’s lecture entitled Signs of the Apocalypse. The Cultural Catastrophe of the West.
