Nonostante il tenero amore che nutro per il mio Paese, non ho mai saputo essere un grande patriota né un nazionalista… E ben presto è nata in me una diffidenza verso i confini e un amore profondo, spesso appassionato, per quei beni umani che per loro natura stanno al di là dei confini… Col passare degli anni mi sono sentito ineluttabilmente spinto ad apprezzare maggiormente ciò che unisce uomini e nazioni piuttosto che ciò che li divide. Tedesco, “adottato” poi dalla Svizzera, Nobel per la letteratura, Hermann Hesse (luglio 1877 – 1962) fu uno scrittore di pace, impegnato, nei suoi libri a denunciare le guerre, ispiratore del movimento pacifista giovanile negli anni sessanta.
Lo stesso rifiuto che riecheggia in chiave contemporanea nella mostra che l’artista napoletana Carla Viparelli propone da mercoledì 22 ottobre (ore 18,30) fino al 19 novembre dal titolo “Il confine è un dettaglio” a cura di Paola Pozzi e Brunello Nardone alla galleria Frame Ars Artes di Napoli al corso Vittorio Emanuele 525. Con testi critici di Italo Ferrara e Mariadelaide Cuozzo.
La mostra si articola in due sezioni: un ciclo di opere realizzate per l’occasione e un’altra nata negli ultimi anni, ma sono unite da un’unica idea: il confine non è che un bordo tra frammenti provenienti da una realtà un tempo integra e irreversibilmente frantumata; l’unità originaria non può più essere ricostituita e ogni frammento acquista una sua autonomia e la frantumazione dà luogo a nuove unità significanti.
Così il confine diventa “un dettaglio” mai invalicabile in senso assoluto: il nodo centrale dell’esposizione è lo confinamento che produce una sovrapposizione, un raddoppio, generando aree dai contorni inediti, in cui si mischiano scritture e lingue.
Tra i lavori esposti: una grande composizione dal titolo “Una tregua per la terra” di cm. 240×180, costituita da 20 tavole dipinte a olio diverse per forma, dimensione e supporto (tavola e tela); un ciclo di dieci bacheche contenenti composizioni di sagome in legno, che riproducono dettagli ingranditi della grande composizione.

Frame Ars Artes / The border is a detail: Carla Viparelli’s works build a reality with unseen contours. Where writing and languages are mixed together
Despite the tender love I feel for my country, I have never been able to be a great patriot or nationalist… And soon I developed a distrust of borders and a deep, often passionate love for those human values that by their nature transcend borders… Over the years, I have felt inexorably drawn to appreciate more what unites men and nations than what divides them. German, later “adopted” by Switzerland, Nobel Prize winner for literature, Hermann Hesse (July 1877 – 1962) was a writer of peace, committed in his books to denouncing war, inspiring the youth pacifist movement in the 1960s.
The same rejection is echoed in a contemporary key in the exhibition that Neapolitan artist Carla Viparelli is presenting from Wednesday 22 October (6.30 p.m.) until 19 November, entitled “Il confine è un dettaglio” (The border is a detail), curated by Paola Pozzi and Brunello Nardone at the Frame Ars Artes gallery in Naples, Corso Vittorio Emanuele 525. With critical texts by Italo Ferrara and Mariadelaide Cuozzo.
The exhibition is divided into two sections: a series of works created for the occasion and another conceived in recent years, but they are united by a single idea: the border is nothing more than an edge between fragments from a reality that was once intact and has been irreversibly shattered; the original unity can no longer be reconstituted and each fragment acquires its own autonomy, with the fragmentation giving rise to new meaningful units.
Thus, the border becomes a “detail” that is never absolutely insurmountable: the central theme of the exhibition is the trespassing that produces an overlapping, a doubling, generating areas with new contours, in which writings and languages mix.
Among the works on display: a large composition entitled “Una tregua per la terra” (A Truce for the Earth), measuring 240×180 cm, consisting of 20 oil paintings of different shapes, sizes and media (wood and canvas); a series of ten display cases containing compositions of wooden silhouettes, which reproduce enlarged details of the large composition.
