«Tra due anni si celebrerà il bicentenario della morte di Franz Schubert, a cui rendiamo omaggio avviando un progetto incentrato sull’esecuzione dei quartetti per archi del grande compositore austriaco, scomparso a Vienna il 19 novembre del 1828».
Così i musicisti dell’Armida Quartett, formazione d’eccellenza tedesca, presentano al pubblico italiano la prima parte di un ambizioso percorso che proporranno giovedì 26 marzo (alle 20), nella splendida Sala Scarlatti del Conservatorio di Musica San Pietro a Majella.
Ospiti della stagione musicale dell’associazione Alessandro Scarlatti, presieduta da Oreste de Divitiis, eseguiranno due opere emblematiche: il Quartetto in sol minore D. 173, perla della produzione giovanile, e il monumentale Quartetto in sol maggiore D. 887.
Fondato a Berlino nel 2006 dai violinisti Martin Fulda e Wojciech Koprowski, dalla violista Teresa Schwamm e dal violoncellista Peter-Philipp Staemmler, l’ensemble proseguirà nel 2027 con i quartetti D. 112, D. 87 e il celebre Rosamunde, per concludersi nel 2028 con il Quartettsatz D. 703, il Quartetto D. 353 e il capolavoro La morte e la fanciulla.
L’Armida Quartett (che deve il suo nome alla celebre opera di Haydn) si è affermato sulla scena internazionale grazie al primo premio ottenuto nel 2012 al Concorso ARD di Monaco e all’acclamato ciclo discografico Mozart Exploded.
Negli anni ha consolidato una reputazione basata su una straordinaria integrità interpretativa e un’intima convergenza emotiva, qualità lodate dalla critica internazionale, da Gramophone ai principali festival mondiali.

“In two years’ time, we will celebrate the bicentenary of the death of Franz Schubert, to whom we pay tribute by launching a project centred on the performance of the string quartets by the great Austrian composer, who died in Vienna on 19 November 1828.”
Thus, the musicians of the Armida Quartett, a German ensemble of excellence, present to the Italian public the first part of an ambitious programme which they will perform on Thursday the 26th of March (at 8 pm), in the splendid Sala Scarlatti of the San Pietro a Majella Conservatory of Music.
Guests of the musical season organised by the Alessandro Scarlatti Association, chaired by Oreste de Divitiis, they will perform two emblematic works: the Quartet in G minor, K. 173, a gem of his early output, and the monumental Quartet in G major, K. 887.
Founded in Berlin in 2006 by violinists Martin Fulda and Wojciech Koprowski, violist Teresa Schwamm and cellist Peter-Philipp Staemmler, the ensemble will continue in 2027 with the quartets D. 112, D. 87 and the famous Rosamunde, concluding in 2028 with the Quartettsatz D. 703, the Quartet D. 353 and the masterpiece Death and the Maiden.
The Armida Quartett (which takes its name from Haydn’s famous opera) has made a name for itself on the international scene thanks to the first prize it won in 2012 at the ARD Competition in Munich and its acclaimed recording series Mozart Exploded.
