Da Piscinola al Brasile con la musica. L’Orchestra Topica porta “Magic Umbu” in concerto all’Arena per un viaggio senza confini. Un’occasione unica per vivere la loro energia in uno spazio suggestivo che unisce arte e impegno civile alla periferia creativa della città di Napoli. Giovedì 16 luglio alle 21 al Teatro Area Nord (via Nuova dietro la Vigna, Piscinola).
Un’esplosione di ritmi e contaminazioni attende gli spettatori: dallo choro brasiliano alla canzone d’autore, passando per Napoli, l’Europa e il Mediterraneo in un concerto raffinato che richiama sonorità di stampo cinematografico.
Sul palco, il quintetto eseguirà l’intero album, offrendo una dimensione totalmente nuova rispetto ai precedenti showcase.
“Magic Umbu”, uscito per Retro Music, è il secondo capitolo discografico della band nata nel 2021 da una spontanea roda de choro partenopea.
L’album è un ponte ideale tra le gafieiras di Rio de Janeiro e i vicoli di Napoli, un viaggio a ritmo sincopato dove la tradizione del choro si fonde con i groove dell’afrobeat e l’eleganza delle orchestre da ballo italiane del secondo dopoguerra, rievocando i maestri Gorni Kramer e Piero Piccioni.
La formazione, che unisce tre anime (napoletana, turco-genovese e franco-algerina), è composta da: Roberto Dogustan (Genova) – chitarra a 7 corde, pilastro armonico del gruppo; Davide d’Alò (Napoli) – clarinetto, già membro dei Posteggiatori Tristi; Joe Zerbib (Parigi) – trombone, con esperienze nei Les Vilains Chicots e nella band napo-balcanica Bagarija Orkestar; Gibbone (Napoli) – percussioni, reduce da esperienze con Gentlemen’s Agreement, Le Loup Garou e Pegaonda; Francesca Diletta Iavarone (Napoli) – flauto e sonorizzazioni teatrali, attiva anche con Fitness Forever, Bassolino, La Niña e I Catechisti.

From Piscinola to Brazil through music. The Topica Orchestra brings “Magic Umbu” to the Arena for a concert that takes the audience on a journey without borders. A unique opportunity to experience their energy in an evocative setting that combines art and social commitment on the creative outskirts of Naples. On Thursday the 16th of July at 9.00 pm at the Teatro Area Nord (Via Nuova dietro la Vigna, Piscinola).
An explosion of rhythms and musical influences awaits the audience: from Brazilian choro to singer-songwriter music, via Naples, Europe and the Mediterranean, in a sophisticated concert evoking cinematic soundscapes.
On stage, the quintet will perform the entire album, offering a completely new experience compared to their previous showcases.
‘Magic Umbu’, released by Retro Music, is the second album by the band, which was formed in 2021 from a spontaneous Neapolitan roda de choro.
The album builds a perfect bridge between the gafieiras of Rio de Janeiro and the alleyways of Naples, a journey to a syncopated rhythm where the choro tradition blends with the grooves of Afrobeat and the elegance of post-war Italian dance bands, evoking the masters Gorni Kramer and Piero Piccioni.
The band, which brings together three distinct souls (Neapolitan, Turkish-Genoese and Franco-Algerian), comprises: Roberto Dogustan (Genoa) – 7-string guitar, the group’s harmonic backbone; Davide d’Alò (Naples) – clarinet, formerly of Posteggiatori Tristi; Joe Zerbib (Paris) – trombone, with experience in Les Vilains Chicots and the Neapolitan-Balkan band Bagarija Orkestar; Gibbone (Naples) – percussion, fresh from stints with Gentlemen’s Agreement, Le Loup Garou and Pegaonda; Francesca Diletta Iavarone (Naples) – flute and theatrical sound design, also active with Fitness Forever, Bassolino, La Niña and I Catechisti.
