Transit grounds. Venerdì 21 novembre dalle 17 la Shazar Gallery presenta una doppia personale di Dimitris Kontodimos e Gabriel Orlowski, a cura di Massimiliano Maglione.
Transit grounds riunisce il lavoro di due artisti, Dimitris Kontodimos (scultore greco) e Gabriel Orlowski (fotografo polacco) che mostrano con due differenti linguaggi un continuum di azioni urbane.
Dimitris Kontodimos vive e lavora ad Atene ed è alla sua prima personale italiana. In occasione della mostra alla Shazar Gallery ha partecipato a Somma Vesuviana alla residenza artistica “Vesuvio contemporary residency creative stay” organizzata da Tramandars su invito di Massimiliano Maglione. Attivissimo in Grecia, ha esposto in molte capitali europee tra cui Praga e Madrid.
Le sculture di Dimitris Kontodimos simulano percorsi artificiali attraverso i quali si insinua la cultura consumistica, utilizza oggetti anonimi della civiltà urbana rendendoli rovine contemporanee, reperti fittizi che mettono in crisi la fiducia nella memoria come strumento di verità.
Gabriel Orlowski, invece, vive e lavora a Varsavia: è alla sua seconda personale negli spazi di via Pasquale Scura. Nel 2018 è stato inserito nella lista dei più importanti giovani artisti polacchi, ha esposto alla Agnes B. Galerie du Jour a Parigi, alla Galeria Leto a Varsavia e Zigutamve a Vienna ed è stato anche protagonista di una mostra durante la Warsaw Gallery Weekend, nello Stroboskop Art Space.
Nelle fotografie di Gabriel Orlowski invece la rovina non è più il ricordo di ciò che è finito, ma la forma del presente che si consuma, una distesa di strutture, mezzi e persone che continuano a muoversi pur nella sensazione di essere già relitti, conseguenze della logica consumistica.
Transit grounds rimarrà aperta fino al 17 gennaio 2026 dal martedì al sabato dalle 14.30 alle 19.30 e su appuntamento.

Transit grounds. On the 21st of November, starting at 5 p.m., the Shazar Gallery presents a double solo exhibition by Dimitris Kontodimos and Gabriel Orlowski, curated by Massimiliano Maglione.
Transit grounds brings together the work of two artists, Dimitris Kontodimos (Greek sculptor) and Gabriel Orlowski (Polish photographer), who use two different languages to show a continuum of urban actions.
Dimitris Kontodimos lives and works in Athens and this is his first solo exhibition in Italy.
Very active in Greece, he has exhibited in many European capitals, including Prague and Madrid.Dimitris Kontodimos’ sculptures simulate artificial paths through which consumer culture insinuates itself. He uses anonymous objects from urban civilisation, turning them into contemporary ruins, fictitious artefacts that undermine our trust in memory as a tool of truth.
Gabriel Orlowski, on the other hand, lives and works in Warsaw: this is his second solo exhibition in the spaces of Via Pasquale Scura. In 2018, he was included in the list of the most important young Polish artists, exhibited at the Agnes B. Galerie du Jour in Paris, the Galeria Leto in Warsaw and Zigutamve in Vienna, and was also the protagonist of an exhibition during Warsaw Gallery Weekend, at the Stroboskop Art Space.
In Gabriel Orlowski’s photographs, however, ruin is no longer a memory of what has ended, but the form of the present that is being consumed, an expanse of structures, vehicles and people that continue to move despite the feeling of already being relics, consequences of consumerist logic.
Transit grounds will remain open until the 17th of January 2026, Tuesday to Saturday from 2.30 pm to 7.30 pm and by appointment.
