Una grossa orca tra legni spiaggiati che si muovono come creste di onde. Parte da questa installazione l’esposizione di Carmine Rezzuti a cura di Patrizia Di Maggio dal titolo Arenarsi? che si inaugura mercoledì 7 maggio dalle 17.30 alle 20 nella sede dell’associazione culturale napoletana Movimento Aperto guidata da Ilia Tufano, in via Duomo 290/c.
All’ingresso dello spazio espositivo, una serie di opere di piccolo formato dove fonte d’ispirazione principale è la natura tra insetti, uccelli, quadrupedi, pesci e piccoli mostri antropomorfi.
Metafora della realtà, l’installazione/acquario del contemporaneo si interroga sulla probabilità della predatrice del mare di poter smarrire la propria meta: un riferimento alle incertezze del nostro tempo in cui tante inside sono in agguato.
Spiega la curatrice: «Le onde sono legni di varia forma e grandezza raccolti sulle spiagge. Oggetti comuni, ma non insignificanti, rinnovati nei contenuti concettuali ed estetici, muti testimoni di storie vissute in altri tempi e in altri siti, pronti a dire di sé dopo il processo di ri-collocazione e ri-significazione a cui Rezzuti li ha sottoposti».
Carmine Rezzuti naviga dagli anni settanta nel mondo dell’arte, partecipando a importanti rassegne come la Quadriennale di Roma, la Biennale di Venezia, la manifestazione Paesaggio sismico a Villa Letizia nella capitale a cura di Incontri Internazionali d’Arte, su invito di Bruno Corà e l’iniziativa Per formare una collezione, per un archivio dell’arte in Campania al Museo Madre.

Movimento Aperto/ Carmine Rezzuti and the giant orca in the gallery: when a contemporary aquarium becomes a metaphor for a lost society
A big orca among beached woods that move like the crests of waves. This installation is the starting point for Carmine Rezzuti’s exhibition Arenarsi?, curated by Patrizia Di Maggio, which opens on Wednesday the 7th of May from 5.30 pm to 8 pm at the headquarters of the Neapolitan cultural association Movimento Aperto, directed by Ilia Tufano, in Via Duomo 290/c.
At the entrance to the exhibition space, a series of small-format works whose main source of inspiration is nature, including insects, birds, quadrupeds, fish and small anthropomorphic monsters.
A metaphor for reality, the contemporary installation/aquarium questions the likelihood of the predator of the sea losing its target: a reference to the uncertainties of our time, in which so many lurk within.
The curator explains: “The waves are woods of different shapes and sizes collected on beaches. Ordinary objects, but not insignificant, renewed in their conceptual and aesthetic content, mute witnesses of histories lived in other times and places, ready to tell their own story after the process of relocation and re-signification to which Rezzuti has subjected them”.
Carmine Rezzuti has been active in the art world since the 1970s, taking part in important exhibitions such as the Rome Quadriennale, the Venice Biennale, Seismic Landscape at Villa Letizia in Rome, curated by Incontri Internazionali d’Arte at the invitation of Bruno Corà, and the initiative Per formare una collezione, per un archivio dell’arte in Campania at the Madre Museum.
