“Fuoco Tammorre Madonne”. Nel cuore della VI Municipalità di Napoli, San Giovanni a Teduccio, l’associazione performing art Campania presenta, da lunedì 26 maggio un ciclo di eventi che intrecciano arte, storia, musica popolare e spiritualità, nell’ambito del Maggio dei Monumenti 2025, promosso e finanziato dal Comune di Napoli.
Il progetto accende i luoghi della periferia orientale di Napoli attraverso la cultura partecipata e la memoria collettiva con l’intento di coniugare la valorizzazione del patrimonio materiale e immateriale con un forte coinvolgimento delle comunità locali, degli studenti, dei musicisti e degli artisti.
Saranno quattro i momenti evocativi, pensati per valorizzare luoghi storici e simbolici del quartiere di San Giovanni a Teduccio attraverso un linguaggio che unisce tradizione e contemporaneità. Da lunedì 26 maggio a venerdì 13 giugno, nella sala consiliare VI Municipalità (Via Atripaldi, 64) potrà essere visitata dalle 9,30 alle 17, la mostra fotografica “Fuoco Pelle Madonne” di Silvio Siciliano che porta in mostra un corpus di immagini con cui racconta la bellezza, la forza e la sacralità dei riti femminili del Sud Italia. Un’esposizione che mette al centro la “pelle” come elemento di vibrazione tra tamburi, corpi, devozione e identità.
Martedì 27 e mercoledì 28 maggio nella Villa Romana di Caius Olius Ampliatus (Via Decio Mure- Angolo Via della Villa Romana), all’interno del suggestivo sito archeologico romano, affidato al Rotary Club Napoli Est, si svolgeranno visite guidate teatralizzate tra archeologia, mito e musica, rivolte in particolare agli studenti dell’I.C. 70 Marino – Santa Rosa. I partecipanti verranno accompagnati da archeologi esperti in un percorso tra le rovine della villa, con focus sulla storia dell’eruzione del Vesuvio.
L’incontro sarà arricchito da letture tratte dagli scritti di Plinio il Vecchio, interpretate dalla voce narrante Francesca Ciardiello, con atmosfere sonore create dal polistrumentista Roberto Trenca. Un’esperienza immersiva che unisce divulgazione scientifica e suggestione poetica.
Sabato 31 maggio in Piazza San Giovanni Battista avrà luogo “Fuoco Tammorre Madonne”. La piazza si accenderà nel pomeriggio, alle ore 18.00, con uno stage gratuito di danze popolari, guidato da Angela Blaso, Antonio Esposito e la Paranza Sfessania. Un’occasione unica per apprendere i passi della nostra tradizione e vivere la serata in maniera partecipativa.
Alle 21, concerto di Mimmo Maglionico & PietrArsa, che inaugureranno il loro tour europeo accompagnati da uno dei grandi maestri della tradizione napoletana: Giovanni Mauriello, icona popolare e fondatore della Nuova Compagnia di Canto Popolare. Un concerto potente, coinvolgente, che restituisce voce e corpo alla memoria musicale del Sud.
Domenica 1° giugno nella Parrocchia San Giovanni Battista (C.so S. Giovanni a Teduccio, 594) sarà la volta di “Royal Fireworks Music” – Musica per I reali fuochi d’artificio. La grande musica classica risuonerà nella chiesa di San Giovanni a Teduccio grazie al Brass Ensemble del Conservatorio San Pietro a Majella di Napoli. Un affascinante viaggio tra le sonorità di un repertorio che celebra la forza evocativa delle grandi composizioni orchestrali, in un contesto suggestivo e aperto alla comunità. Musiche di Händel, Mozart, Elgar dirette da Gennaro Cappabianca.
San Giovanni a Teduccio/’Fuoco Tammorre Madonne’: cultural events, from photography to music, light up the suburbs
‘Fuoco Tammorre Madonne’. From Monday the 26th of May, the Performing Arts Association of Campania will present a series of events in the heart of Naples’ VI Municipality, San Giovanni a Teduccio. These events will interweave art, history, popular music and spirituality as part of Maggio dei Monumenti 2025, an initiative promoted and financed by the City of Naples.
The project illuminates the eastern suburbs of Naples through participatory culture and collective memory, combining the promotion of material and immaterial heritage with the active involvement of local communities, students, musicians, and artists.
There will be four evocative events designed to highlight historical and symbolic sites in the San Giovanni a Teduccio district, combining tradition and contemporary elements. From the 26th of May until the 13th of June, the photographic exhibition ‘Fuoco Pelle Madonne’ by Silvio Siciliano will be on display in the council chamber of the VI Municipality (Via Atripaldi, 64). Open from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., the exhibition showcases a collection of images that capture the beauty, strength, and sacredness of Southern Italian female rites. It is an exhibition that focuses on the ‘skin’ as an element of vibration between drums, bodies, devotion and identity.
On Tuesday the 27th and Wednesday the 28th of May, the Roman Villa of Caius Olius Ampliatus (Via Decio Mure-Angolo Via della Villa Romana), located within the evocative Roman archaeological site managed by the Rotary Club of East Naples, will host theatrical guided tours focusing on archaeology, myth and music. These tours are particularly aimed at students from I.C. 70 Marino – Santa Rosa. Participants will be accompanied by expert archaeologists on a tour of the villa’s ruins, focusing on the history of Vesuvius’ eruption.
The event will feature readings from Pliny the Elder’s writings, performed by the narrator Francesca Ciardiello, accompanied by atmospheric soundscapes created by multi-instrumentalist Roberto Trenca. This is an immersive experience that combines scientific popularisation and poetic suggestion.
On Saturday the 31^(st) of May, ‘Fuoco Tammorre Madonne’ will take place in Piazza San Giovanni Battista. The square will come alive in the afternoon with a free popular dance workshop led by Angela Blaso, Antonio Esposito and the Paranza Sfessania, starting at 6 p.m. This is a unique opportunity to learn traditional dance steps and experience the evening in a participatory manner.
At 9 pm, there will be a concert by Mimmo Maglionico & PietrArsa, who will be inaugurating their European tour, accompanied by one of the great masters of Neapolitan tradition: Giovanni Mauriello, a popular icon and the founder of the Nuova Compagnia di Canto Popolare. This powerful and engaging concert restores voice and body to the musical memory of the south.
On Sunday the 1st of June, the Parish of San Giovanni Battista (C.so S. Giovanni a Teduccio, 594) will host “Royal Fireworks Music”. The church of San Giovanni a Teduccio will resound with great classical music thanks to the Brass Ensemble of the Conservatorio San Pietro a Majella in Naples. A fascinating journey through the sounds of a repertoire that celebrates the evocative power of great orchestral compositions, in an evocative setting open to the community.
