San Carlo/ Torna il festival Artecinema e apre con “Jean Cocteau”, ritratto poetico del visionario artista francese

Grande attesa per una rassegna molto amata che compie i suoi primi 30 anni di vita. In arrivo, infatti, il Festival Artecinema, ideato e diretto da Laura Trisorio, che si terrà a Napoli dal 9 al 12 ottobre nel segno dell’arte sperimentata, vissuta, fotografata e filmata a 360 gradi.
Partirà, come di consueto, con (la sola) serata inaugurale giovedì 9 ottobre (ore 20) al Teatro di San Carlo con la proiezione in anteprima nazionale di Jean Cocteau, diretto da Lisa Immordino Vreeland. Il film è un ritratto poetico del visionario artista francese. Attraverso le sue parole e tanti materiali d’archivio, si esplora il suo estro sconfinato nella poesia, nel cinema, nell’arte e nel teatro.
In programma al teatro Augusteo 27 film provenienti da diversi paesi come Stati Uniti, Francia, Regno Unito, Italia, molti dei quali presentati in anteprima mondiale, europea o nazionale.
Fra gli artisti selezionati per questa edizione: Francesco Arena, Marco Bagnoli, Louise Bourgeois, Sophie Calle, Vija Celmins, Jean Cocteau, Ernest Cole, Iran do Espirito Santo, Katharina Grosse, Frida Kahlo, Tadashi Kawamata, Christiane Löhr, Shirin Neshat, Martin Parr, Howardena Pindell, Puppies Puppies (Jade Guanaro Kuriki-Olivo), Dyani White Hawk.
Per la sezione architettura un film su Cini Boeri, pioniera dell’architettura italiana, il documentario sull’architetto canadese Arthur Erickson e il film Nuvola. Un progetto aperto alla città, dedicato allo spazio polifunzionale Nuvola di Torino del gruppo Lavazza, che esplora il concetto di architettura sociale.
Le donne hanno dovuto lottare per imporsi nell’arte: un fronte scottante indagato nel film Alreadymade di Barbara Visser che mette in discussione la paternità dell’opera Fountain di Marcel Duchamp, presentando le teorie che la attribuiscono a una donna, Elsa von Freytag-Loringhoven.
E, ancora, Louise Bourgeois, la sculpture et colère di Marie-Eve De Grave ripercorre, in anteprima italiana, la vita e la carriera dell’artista attraverso le sue parole e la sua voce. Storia di una donna divisa e combattiva che ha affrontato i propri demoni interiori e sfidato un mondo dell’arte prevalentemente maschile e esclusivo.
Nato nel 1996 da un’idea di Laura Trisorio, Artecinema cattura l’attenzione degli appassionati di arte, architettura e fotografia contemporanea di tutte le età e dei giovani e di tutti quelli che abbiano voglia di avvicinarsi al mondo creativo per comprenderlo dal di dentro, attraverso lo sguardo dei registi e le parole degli artisti protagonisti dei documentari.
In trent’anni Artecinema ha mostrato più di 800 documentari e ha collaborato con oltre 600 artisti, registi e produttori, provenienti da ogni parte del mondo. Tutte le proiezioni sono in lingua originale sottotitolate in italiano.  Anche quest’anno interverranno numerosi protagonisti dei film, registi, produttori, artisti e collezionisti.

San Carlo/ The Artecinema Festival returns and opens with “Jean Cocteau,” a poetic portrait of the visionary French artist

Great anticipation for a beloved festival celebrating its 30th anniversary. The Artecinema Festival, conceived and directed by Laura Trisorio, will be held in Naples from October 9th to 12th, showcasing art as experienced, lived, photographed, and filmed in 360 degrees.
It will kick off, as usual, with an opening night on Thursday, October 9th (8:00 pm) at the Teatro di San Carlo with the national premiere screening of Jean Cocteau, directed by Lisa Immordino Vreeland. The film is a poetic portrait of the visionary French artist. Through his words and extensive archive material, his boundless creativity in poetry, cinema, art, and theater is explored.
The program features 27 films from various countries including the United States, France, the United Kingdom, and Italy, many of which are world, European, or national premieres.
Among the artists selected for this edition: Francesco Arena, Marco Bagnoli, Louise Bourgeois, Sophie Calle, Vija Celmins, Jean Cocteau, Ernest Cole, Iran do Espirito Santo, Katharina Grosse, Frida Kahlo, Tadashi Kawamata, Christiane Löhr, Shirin Neshat, Martin Parr, Howardena Pindell, Puppies Puppies (Jade Guanaro Kuriki-Olivo), and Dyani White Hawk.
For the architecture section, a film on Cini Boeri, a pioneer of Italian architecture, a documentary on Canadian architect Arthur Erickson, and the film Nuvola. A project open to the city, dedicated to the Lavazza Group’s Nuvola multifunctional space in Turin, which explores the concept of social architecture.
Women had to fight hard to establish themselves in art: a burning issue explored in Barbara Visser’s film Alreadymade, which questions the authorship of Marcel Duchamp’s Fountain, presenting theories that attribute it to a woman, Elsa von Freytag-Loringhoven.
And, again, Louise Bourgeois, la sculpture et colère by Marie-Eve De Grave retraces, in an Italian premiere, the artist’s life and career through her own words and voice. It’s the story of a divided and combative woman who faced her own inner demons and challenged a predominantly male and exclusive art world.
Founded in 1996 from an idea by Laura Trisorio, Artecinema captures the attention of art, architecture, and contemporary photography enthusiasts of all ages, young and old, and anyone who wants to approach the creative world and understand it from the inside, through the eyes of the directors and the words of the artists featured in the documentaries.
Over thirty years, Artecinema has shown more than 800 documentaries and collaborated with over 600 artists, directors, and producers from around the world. All screenings are in the original language with Italian subtitles. This year, numerous film protagonists, directors, producers, artists, and collectors will again be present.
