Warhol Vs Bansky Passaggio a Napoli. Sabina de Gregori e Giuseppe Stagnitta, curatori dell’esposizione, mettono insieme due icone del contemporaneo che hanno attraversato la città di Partenope. Da oggi, 22 gennaio Villa Pignatelli alla Riviera di Chiaia fino al 2 giugno 2026.
Patrocinata dal ministero della cultura e dal Comune di Napoli, prodotta e organizzata da Metamorfosi Eventi (catalogo Gangemi editore, con il sostegno di Enel e di Romeo Collection) la mostra (foto) propone un suggestivo confronto tra due artisti e due personalità apparentemente distanti: il mondano universo di Andy Warhol, l’artista più fotografato al mondo, celebre e onnipresente, contro Banksy che ha fatto dell’anonimato il suo punto di forza.
Passaggio a Napoli vuole essere il racconto di come abbiano subìto il fascino irresistibile di Napoli e dintorni. La mostra, infatti, offre una lettura del legame speciale che entrambi hanno avuto con la metropoli. Inoltre, sono presenti elementi di approfondimento sulla Madonna con la pistola di Banksy a Piazza Gerolomini.
Oltre 100 le opere proposte al pubblico, provenienti da famose collezioni private di tutto il mondo e da importanti gallerie d’arte. Dalla Marilyn Monroe realizzata da Warhol dopo la morte dell’attrice nel 1962 ai famosi ritratti di Mick Jagger, Keith Haring, Joseph Beuys, Liza Minelli, Mao, Lenin e Kennedy di Warhol e la Regina Vittoria di Banksy.
Da una parte, dunque, Warhol e le sue opere diventate un prodotto di consumo e il suo nome un vero e proprio brand, e dall’altra Banksy grande esperto di comunicazione, che continua a far parlare di sé trasformando il vandalismo di strada in un evento internazionale da prima pagina, capace di raggiungere l’intero pianeta, usando il suo anonimato per diventare icona, e dunque brand, allo stesso modo di Warhol. Due artisti geniali, capaci di creare un cocktail potente di celebrità, satira e voyerismo.
Da Caravaggio, fuggito da Roma, alla stagione del Grand Tour, a Goethe che nel golfo trovò un po’ di respiro ai suoi tormenti interiori, fino ai contemporanei internazionali, Napoli e la Campania si confermano magica fonte di ispirazione.

Warhol Vs Bansky Passage in Naples. Sabina de Gregori and Giuseppe Stagnitta, curators of the exhibition, bring together two icons of contemporary art who have passed through the city of Partenope. From today, the 22nd of January, at Villa Pignatelli on the Riviera di Chiaia until the 2nd of June 2026.
Patronised by the Ministry of Culture and the Municipality of Naples, produced and organised by Metamorfosi Eventi (catalogue published by Gangemi, with the support of Enel and Romeo Collection), the exhibition (photo) offers an evocative comparison between two artists and two seemingly distant personalities: the glamorous world of Andy Warhol, the most photographed artist in the universe, renowned and omnipresent, versus Banksy, who has made anonymity his strength.
Passaggio a Napoli aims to recount how they succumbed to the irresistible charm of Naples and its surroundings. The exhibition offers an interpretation of the special bond that both artists had with the city. In addition, there are elements of further exploration of Banksy’s Madonna with a Gun in Piazza Gerolomini.
Over 100 works are on display to the public, coming from famous private collections around the world and important art galleries. From Warhol’s Marilyn Monroe, created after the actress’s death in 1962, to Warhol’s famous portraits of Mick Jagger, Keith Haring, Joseph Beuys, Liza Minelli, Mao, Lenin and Kennedy, and Banksy’s Queen Victoria.
On the one hand, therefore, Warhol and his works have become a consumer product and his name a real brand, and on the other, Banksy, a great expert in communication, who continues to be talked about by transforming street vandalism into an international front-page event, capable of reaching the entire planet, using his anonymity to become an icon, and therefore a brand, in the same way as Warhol. Two brilliant artists, capable of creating a powerful cocktail of celebrity, satire and voyeurism.
From Caravaggio, who fled Rome, to the Grand Tour era, to Goethe, who found some relief from his inner torments in the Gulf, to contemporary international figures, Naples and Campania continue to be a magical source of inspiration.
