Andrea Mazzucchi, il rettore che dedica sé stesso innanzitutto a dare il benvenuto agli studenti. Nel giorno al vertice della Federico II, il prof (foto) ha scelto di dedicare i primi momenti del proprio mandato alle studentesse e agli studenti del semestre filtro, dando loro il benvenuto nella comunità accademica nell’Aula Magna della Scuola di Medicina e Chirurgia.
Nel suo intervento, li ha invitati a vivere il percorso di formazione con equilibrio: con impegno, ma senza accanimento, con serietà, ma senza ansia, e senza mai trascurare la propria vita personale, gli affetti e le proprie passioni. Ha inoltre sottolineato l’importanza di vivere pienamente la comunità e gli spazi dell’Ateneo, costruendo relazioni autentiche con colleghi e docenti.
Come secondo atto del suo mandato, il Rettore Andrea Mazzucchi ha nominato il suo prorettore. È il professore Nicola Bianco, classe 1971, professore ordinario di Fisica Tecnica Industriale presso il Dipartimento di Ingegneria Industriale dell’Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II, di cui è Direttore dal 2020.
Nel corso dell’incontro di accoglienza agli studenti del semestre filtro (ad accesso libero, dei corsi di laurea in Medicina e Chirurgia, Odontoiatria e Protesi Dentaria e Medicina), avvenuto in concomitanza con l’università del Sannio, che avvia i corsi replica con la Federico II, ha anche evidenziato come l’ingresso nella comunità federiciana rappresenti non soltanto l’avvio di un percorso accademico, ma anche l’ingresso in una comunità universitaria con oltre otto secoli di storia e una forte responsabilità culturale e civile verso il presente e il futuro.
«Il semestre filtro – spiega non deve diventare una gara nella quale ciascuno vede nell’altro soltanto un concorrente da superare. L’Università non è questo. La competizione, quando è sana, può essere uno stimolo a migliorarsi. Ma quando diventa ansia, isolamento, confronto continuo con gli altri, paura di non essere abbastanza, allora diventa qualcosa che impoverisce l’esperienza universitaria. Vorrei quindi chiedervi di affrontare questi mesi con impegno, ma anche con serenità; con ambizione, ma senza ossessione; con determinazione, ma senza perdere l’equilibrio. E soprattutto vorrei invitarvi a vivere questo percorso insieme. Aiutatevi. Confrontatevi. Studiate insieme. La persona che siede accanto a voi non è soltanto qualcuno con cui condividete una prova. Può diventare un compagno di viaggio, un collega, un amico. E domani, nella professione, sarà proprio la capacità di collaborare, di ascoltare e di lavorare con gli altri una delle competenze più importanti. Vorrei che questa fosse una delle caratteristiche della Federico II che incontrerete: una comunità, non una somma di individui in competizione».
Federico II University / The dean Mazzucchi welcomes his students: “Don’t worry about competition during the ‘filter’ semester: challenge yourselves and help one another”
Andrea Mazzucchi, the dean who dedicates himself first and foremost to welcoming students. On his first day at the helm of Federico II, the professor (pictured) chose to dedicate the opening moments of his term to the students in the preparatory semester, welcoming them into the academic community in the Aula Magna of the School of Medicine and Surgery.
In his address, he encouraged them to approach their academic journey with balance: with dedication, but without excessive pressure; with seriousness, but without anxiety; and without ever neglecting their personal lives, relationships, and passions. He also emphasized the importance of fully engaging with the university community and its spaces, building authentic relationships with peers and faculty.
As the second act of his term, Rector Andrea Mazzucchi appointed his provost. He is Professor Nicola Bianco, born in 1971, a full professor of Industrial Technical Physics in the Department of Industrial Engineering at the University of Naples Federico II, where he has served as Director since 2020.
During the welcome meeting for students in the preparatory semester (open enrollment for the bachelor’s degree programs in Medicine and Surgery, Dentistry and Dental Prosthetics, and Medicine), held in conjunction with the University of Sannio—which is launching parallel programs with Federico II—it was also emphasized that joining the Federico II community represents not only the start of an academic journey but also entry into a university community with over eight centuries of history and a strong cultural and civic responsibility toward the present and the future.
“The ‘filter semester’—as I explained—must not become a race in which everyone sees the other merely as a competitor to be beaten. That is not what the University is about. Competition, when it is healthy, can be a stimulus for self-improvement. But when it turns into anxiety, isolation, constant comparison with others, and fear of not being good enough, then it becomes something that impoverishes the college experience. I would therefore like to ask you to approach these months with dedication, but also with serenity; with ambition, but without obsession; with determination, but without losing your balance. And above all, I would like to invite you to embark on this journey together. Help one another. Exchange ideas. Study together. The person sitting next to you isn’t just someone with whom you’re taking an exam. They can become a traveling companion, a colleague, a friend. And tomorrow, in your professional lives, the ability to collaborate, listen, and work with others will be one of the most important skills. I hope this will be one of the defining characteristics of Federico II that you encounter: a community, not a collection of competing individuals.”
