Infinito.

Infinity. The Universe of Luigi Ghirri (Italy, 2022, 73′) – a Ladoc production in collaboration with Rai Cultura, Sky Arte and Film Commission Regione Campania – is the account of the important experience of a photographer who wrote regularly throughout his life.
Starting from Ghirri’s texts, Parisini’s documentary traces the crucial stages of his life. It is a journey to the places of the province, a study of land, water, hills, endless horizons. It is an exploration of his photographic work, conceived not in terms of a single image, but as an alphabet in which each image exists only because of the others.
The companions on this journey are the artists Franco Guerzoni and Davide Benati, the art historian Arturo Carlo Quintavalle, the printer Arrigo Ghi, the photographer Gianni Leone, the musician Massimo Zamboni, and finally the family, which represented for Ghirri the feeling of belonging to an ordinary but united community.
The film-through the voice of Stefano Accorsi, who interprets Ghirri’s writings-recovers the material created by the author over many years of work. In the work, also interviews involving artists and experts, as well as his photographs and films capable of documenting the strength of his experimentation.
Explains Parisini: “Over the years I have carried out patient research work-historical, photographic and biographical-on Luigi Ghirri, the man and the artist. Hence the idea for the film was born…. I contacted the photographer’s daughters, who now run the Luigi Ghirri Archive, and other artists and experts who knew him. Infinity. The Universe of Luigi Ghirri aims to shed light on Ghirri, the man and the artist.”
