Un traguardo importante per un lavoro nato lontano dai grandi circuiti industriali, tuttavia capace di parlare un linguaggio universale che fonde ironia, introspezione e riflessione sul nostro tempo.
Protagonista è Giuliana, interpretata da Lucia Barra, una donna che vive un momento di sospensione: un presente fatto di tentativi, incertezze e voglia di rinascita. Nel tentativo di rimettere ordine nella propria vita, acquista un assistente virtuale dotato di intelligenza artificiale, a cui dà il nome Patsy. La voce del dispositivo, quella di Maria Fenizia, diventa presto una presenza costante — uno specchio invisibile delle sue emozioni. Cpsì Patsy si trasforma in interlocutore, confidente, giudice e amica.
Un racconto sull’intelligenza artificiale, ma anche una storia di auto accettazione e desiderio di connessione: ci si interroga su cosa significhi restare umani quando l’altro — anche se fatto di codici — parla, ascolta, giudica o conforta. L’opera è accompagnata dalla colonna sonora dei Tape88 che alterna sonorità elettroniche e accenti emotivi che rimandano agli anni ’80.
«Un risultato che va oltre la distribuzione — commenta il regista e sceneggiatore Antonio Esposito — è il segno che anche un progetto indipendente, nato con mezzi limitati ma tanta autenticità, può fare alto artigianato narrativo ascoltato anche fuori casa. Il fatto che Cose da Patsy sia visibile contemporaneamente in diversi paesi dice molto: le storie vere non hanno bisogno di paesaggi esotici per parlare a un pubblico più vasto. Parlano di domande personali, di desideri non sempre detti. Questo passaggio internazionale è un riconoscimento, ma non un punto d’arrivo: è la conferma che il coraggio produttivo paga».

This is an important milestone for a work that originated far from the major industrial circuits, yet is capable of speaking a universal language that blends irony, introspection, and reflection on our times.
The protagonist is Giuliana, played by Lucia Barra, a woman experiencing a moment of suspension: a present made up of attempts, uncertainties and a desire for rebirth. In an attempt to bring order back into her life, she buys a virtual assistant equipped with artificial intelligence, which she names Patsy. The voice of the device, that of Maria Fenizia, soon becomes a constant presence — an invisible mirror of her emotions. Patsy thus becomes an interlocutor, confidante, judge and friend.
A story about artificial intelligence, but also a story of self-acceptance and the desire for connection: we wonder what it means to remain human when the other — even if made of code — speaks, listens, judges or comforts. The work is accompanied by a soundtrack by Tape88 that alternates electronic sounds and emotional accents reminiscent of the 1980s.
‘A result that goes beyond distribution,’ comments director and screenwriter Antonio Esposito, “is a sign that even an independent project, created with limited means but a great deal of authenticity, can produce high-quality narration that is heard even outside its home country. The fact that Cose da Patsy is available simultaneously in several countries says a lot: true stories don’t need exotic settings to speak to a wider audience. They speak of personal questions, of desires that are not always expressed. This international transition is a recognition, but not a point of arrival: it is confirmation that productive courage pays off.”
