La forma dell’istante. Mercoledì 18 febbraio dalle 18 la Shazar Gallery accoglie la mostra di Giacomo Montanaro, a cura di Domenico de Chirico. Alla sua seconda personale nella sede di via Pasquale Scura 8, nei quartieri spagnoli, Montanaro presenta un nuovissimo progetto.
Sperimentatore instancabile, l’artista passa con disinvoltura da una pittura di rivelazione a una meditata immersione in paesaggi immaginifici: nei lavori che propone sceglie segno ponderato che non sfugge tuttavia al fascino misterioso e calcolato della reazione chimica degli acidi.
Così La forma dell’istante sviluppa una inedita visione dell’umano in circa 20 ritratti che frammentano l’identità in una indagine della coscienza e del vissuto esistenziale.
Spiega il curatore: «La mostra restituisce il senso di una ricerca che non si limita a ridefinire il linguaggio pittorico, ma interroga anche il tempo vissuto, l’importanza del gesto e la natura stessa dell’immagine. Offre allo spettatore un’esperienza visiva intensa e silenziosa, aperta alla contemplazione e alla scoperta di scenari inediti che si dispiegano oltre la superficie già data, in dialogo con lo stato d’animo di ciascuno, pronti a essere vissuti».
Nato a Torre del Greco nel 1970, l’artista si forma tra l’Istituto statale d’arte e l’Accademia di belle arti di Napoli, dove si diploma nel 1993 con lo scultore Augusto Perez. All’inizio privilegia la figura umana, ma riduce i corpi all’essenza.
Nel 2002 abbandona la tela e i materiali tradizionali per confrontarsi con la carta fotografica trasformando gli acidi in strumenti per dipingere.
L’esposizione resterà aperta fino al 17 aprile, dal martedì al sabato dalle 14.30 alle 19.30 e su appuntamento.

The shape of the instant. On Wednesday the 18th of February, starting at 6 p.m., the Shazar Gallery will host an exhibition by Giacomo Montanaro, curated by Domenico de Chirico. In his second solo exhibition at the gallery located at Via Pasquale Scura 8, in the Spanish Quarter neighbourhood, Montanaro presents a brand new project.
A relentless experimenter, the artist moves with ease from revelatory painting to a meditative immersion in imaginative landscapes: in the works he presents, he chooses a thoughtful style that nevertheless does not escape the mysterious and calculated charm of the chemical reaction of acids.
Thus, La forma dell’istante (The shape of the instant) develops an unprecedented vision of the human in about 20 portraits that fragment identity in an investigation of consciousness and existential experience.
The curator explains: ‘The exhibition conveys the sense of a quest that is not limited to redefining the language of painting, but also questions lived time, the importance of gesture and the very nature of the image. It offers the viewer an intense and silent visual experience, open to contemplation and the discovery of new scenarios that unfold beyond the surface, in dialogue with each person’s state of mind, ready to be experienced.”
Born in Torre del Greco in 1970, the artist trained at the State Art Institute and the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples, where he graduated in 1993 with the sculptor Augusto Perez. At first, he favoured the human figure, but reduced bodies to their essence.
In 2002, he abandoned canvas and traditional materials to work with photographic paper, transforming acids into painting tools.
The exhibition will remain open until the 17th of April, from Tuesday to Saturday from 2.30 pm to 7.30 pm and by appointment.
