Sconosciuto in attesa di rinascita. Stasera alle 21 e domani, domenica 21 gennaio, alle 18 al Teatro Instabile Napoli di via Fico Purgatorio ad Arco 38, nel cuore storico cittadino, ad angolo con via dei Tribunali.
Dopo il debutto al Campania Teatro Festival 2021 e il successo al Milano Off Fringe Festival, dove ha ottenuto la menzione speciale dalla giuria dei giovani, torna in scena a Napoli lo spettacolo scritto, diretto e interpretato da Sergio Del Prete.
Un monologo sull’incomunicabilità che vede al centro della scena un uomo in dialogo col fratello mai nato. Il lavoro teatrale, che è arricchito da elaborazioni sonore e musiche dal vivo di Francesco Santagata, delle scene e disegno luci di Carmine De Mizio e dei costumi di Rosario Martone, attraversa il tema della periferia, intesa non solo come condizione geografica, ma anche psicologica ed emotiva.
Da una banale discussione tra i genitori – tra una madre amata, che porta negli occhi la sofferenza di tutte le donne vittime della vita, e un padre odiato, che vorrebbe simbolicamente uccidere, perché (a torto o a ragione) vede in lui riflessa la sua inadeguatezza – il protagonista viene a sapere che, prima che lui nascesse, la madre ha subito un aborto. Da questa rivelazione nasce una scintilla che gli cambia la vita: «Io potevo non esistere, potevo non nascere».
Nasce così un dialogo a senso unico: da un lato un feto non nato, dall’altro un feto rabbioso di paura, vivo, che però si percepisce come aborto. Un flusso vulcanico, un dialogo aperto, un’invettiva nei confronti di un fratello mai nato, di un fratello che non nascendo, lo “costringe” a esistere, facendogli vivere una vita all’insegna dell’incomunicabilità familiare: una vita borderline, in una periferia dimenticata da Dio e dagli uomini.
Un’accusa al fratello non nato, che lo ha intrappolato in una condizione di sconosciuto a se stesso e al mondo, in cerca di una verità che non riesce a guardare in faccia. Rifugiandosi tra le braccia di Marta, una massaggiatrice, ritrova in lei sprazzi di felicità emotiva.
Spiega l’autore: «Il protagonista è un uomo al centro della scena, al centro della storia, al centro del mondo, ma non al centro di se stesso. In questo flusso di coscienza, un non-mitico Edipo si è già accecato. Se il celebre predecessore lo ha fatto una volta vista la verità, qui invece lo fa prima ancora prima di vedere, prima ancora di vivere. È la paura che acceca, la paura di non poter superare i fantasmi, gli schemi, le aridità reiterate della periferia fisica e mentale, la vera protagonista di questo spettacolo».

Unknown awaits rebirth. Tonight at 9 p.m. and tomorrow, Sunday, January 21, at 6 p.m. at the Teatro Instabile Naples, in Via Fico Purgatorio ad Arco, 38, in the historic heart of the city, at the corner of Via dei Tribunali.
After its debut at the Campania Teatro Festival 2021 and its success at the Milan Off Fringe Festival, where it received a special mention from the youth jury, the show written, directed and performed by Sergio Del Prete returns to Naples.
It is a monologue about incommunicability, with a man in dialogue with his unborn brother at the center. The theatrical work, enriched with sound elaborations and live music by Francesco Santagata, set and light design by Carmine De Mizio and costumes by Rosario Martone, traverses the theme of suburbia, understood not only as a geographical condition, but also as a psychological and emotional one.
From a banal conversation between parents – between a beloved mother, who carries in her eyes the suffering of all women, victims of life, and a hated father, whom he would like to kill symbolically because he sees in him (rightly or wrongly) his inadequacy – the protagonist learns that his mother had an abortion before he was born. From this revelation comes a spark that changes his life: “I might not have existed, I might not have been born.
In this way, a one-way dialog is created: on the one hand, an unborn fetus, on the other, a rabid fetus of fear, alive but perceived as an abortion. A volcanic flow, an open dialogue, an invective against an unborn brother, a brother who, by not being born, “forces” him to exist, to live a life of familial incommunicability: a borderline life, in a periphery forgotten by God and man.
An accusation against his unborn brother, who trapped him in a state of alienation from himself and the world, in search of a truth he could not face. He takes refuge in the arms of Marta, a masseuse, in whom he finds flashes of emotional happiness.
The author explains: “The protagonist is a man at the center of the scene, at the center of the story, at the center of the world, but not at the center of himself. In this stream of consciousness, a non-mythical Oedipus has already blinded himself. If his famous predecessor did so after seeing the truth, here he does so before he even sees, before he lives. It is the fear that blinds, the fear of not being able to overcome the ghosts, the patterns, the repeated sterility of the physical and mental periphery, that is the real protagonist of this play.
