Il corpo come strumento creativo. Si è conclusa la IX edizione di Artperformingfestival East and West crossroads. Il mondo che verrà curata da Gianni Nappa. Inaugurata il 29 maggio, al Museo Arcos di Benevento e proseguita nei successivi due giorni all’Auditorium Porta del Parco di Bagnoli.
«La scelta di invitare a Benevento gli artisti coreani Gim Gwang Cheol e Park Kyeong Hwa nasce da una duplice necessità- dice Giuliana Ippolito ideatrice e curatrice del progetto ARCOS OPEN – da un lato, l’urgenza di aprire il Museo ARCOS a una dimensione sempre più internazionale, intercettando la straordinaria vivacità culturale che la Corea del Sud sta esprimendo a livello globale, dall’altro, il desiderio di far compiere al nostro pubblico un’esperienza immersiva».
Una nuova edizione di un festival in cui espressioni artistiche e culture dialogano confrontandosi sui temi contemporanei: «Dalla prima edizione, dal titolo ‘East and West Crossroads’ – dichiara Gianni Nappa – la Kermesse ha portato Napoli nel giro internazionale della performance d’arte e delle arti visive, con artisti e performer provenienti da varie culture orientali e occidentali, in un confronto per una migliore comprensione del “mondo che verrà”».
Un mondo che verrà che spaventa sollevando interrogativi che investono il futuro del pianeta. Anche quest’anno il festival ha presentato artisti che, attraverso la sperimentazione di forme espressive, hanno dato vita a un ponte tra la cultura orientale e quella occidentale affrontando i grandi temi umani, politici e sociali che riguardano tutte e tutti.
Un festival dedicato all’interpretazione artistica attraverso il corpo che, con la sua plastica originalità, coinvolge quanti assistono agli spettacoli facendo emergere emozioni stimolando riflessioni.
«L’incontro con la cultura sudcoreana – conclude Nappa – si è ripetuta in questa edizione, in partnership con la Global Making Art Network, con le uniche tappe italiane del tour europeo dei due artisti performer Gim Gwang Cheol e Park Kyeong Hwa in città storiche e dalla forte identità spirituale ed esoterica: Benevento con la co-curatela di Giuliana Ippolito e Napoli, dove hanno incontrato i performer italiani Loredana Iafrate, Morena Rossi e Salvatore Donatiello».

Artperformingfestival/ Where West meets East between Benevento and Naples. The body explores new forms, interpreting the world to come
The ninth edition of the Artperformingfestival East and West: Crossroads. The world to come, curated by Gianni Nappa, has come to a close. It opened on the 29th of May at the Arcos Museum in Benevento and continued over the following two days at the Porta del Parco Auditorium in Bagnoli.
‘The decision to invite the Korean artists Gim Gwang Cheol and Park Kyeong Hwa to Benevento stems from a twofold need,’ says Giuliana Ippolito, creator and curator of the ARCOS OPEN project – on the one hand, the urgency to open the ARCOS Museum to an increasingly international dimension, tapping into the extraordinary cultural vitality that South Korea is expressing on a global level; on the other, the desire to offer our audience an immersive experience.”
A new edition of a festival in which artistic expressions and cultures dialogue with each other, engaging with contemporary themes: “Since its first edition, entitled ‘East and West Crossroads’,” says Gianni Nappa, “the festival has placed Naples on the international map of performance art and the visual arts, with artists and performers from various Eastern and Western cultures coming together to foster a better understanding of the ‘world to come’.”
A future that fills us with dread, raising questions that cast a shadow over the planet’s future. Once again this year, the festival showcased artists who, through their experimentation with different forms of expression, have built a bridge between Eastern and Western cultures, tackling the major human, political and social issues that affect us all.
A festival dedicated to artistic expression through the body which, with its unique physicality, engages those watching the performances, evoking emotions and prompting reflection.
‘The encounter with South Korean culture,’ concludes Nappa, ‘was repeated in this edition, in partnership with the Global Making Art Network, with the only Italian stops on the European tour of the two performance artists Gim Gwang Cheol and Park Kyeong Hwa in historic cities with a strong spiritual and esoteric identity: Benevento, co-curated by Giuliana Ippolito, and Naples, where they met the Italian performers Loredana Iafrate, Morena Rossi and Salvatore Donatiello.”
