Serata speciale per Malavia, il film di Nunzia De Stefano giovedì 7 maggio alle 21, al Multicinema Modernissimo (Via Cisterna dell’Olio, 49/59). La regista saluterà il pubblico insieme con il cantautore, rapper e attore, tra i protagonisti del film, Giuseppe “PeppOh” Sica, l’autore delle musiche Speaker Cenzou e le attrici protagoniste Daniela De Vita e Francesca Gentile.
Diretto da Nunzia De Stefano, che firma anche la sceneggiatura con Giorgio Caruso, il film è prodotto da Matteo Garrone, una produzione Archimede e Rai Cinema, distribuito da Fandango. Nel cast del film Mattia Francesco Cozzolino con Junior Rodriguez, Ciro Esposito, Artem e Nicola Siciliano.
Malavia racconta la storia di Sasà, uno scugnizzo di tredici anni, della periferia di Napoli. Trascorre le giornate con i suoi due migliori amici, Cira e Nicolas, ascoltando musica rap. Cresciuto senza padre, vive da solo con la sua giovane madre Rusè.
Tra i due c’è un legame molto profondo, che spesso sfocia in una sproporzionata gelosia da parte del figlio. Amante dell’hip hop e dotato di un grande talento musicale, Sasà aspira a diventare un rapper famoso per permettere alla madre una vita migliore.
L’incontro con Yodi, noto rapper della old school partenopea, sembra dare slancio al suo sogno e lo porta a comporre il suo primo vero pezzo: un rap dedicato a Rusè. Tuttavia, lo scontro con la realtà̀ cinica del mondo della musica e della strada, costringe Sasà ad abbandonare le proprie aspirazioni e cede alla criminalità̀ pur di aiutare economicamente la madre, ritrovandosi a spacciare nel cortile della scuola. Quando viene scoperto, rischia di perdere tutto.
Divorato del senso di colpa, dal dolore provocato alla mamma e dalla possibilità̀ di essere portato in una casa-famiglia, Sasà sprofonda in una forte depressione. Soltanto un nuovo incontro con Yodi riesce a far breccia nell’animo del ragazzino, facendogli ritrovare l’entusiasmo perduto con il quale affrontare il futuro, qualunque cosa accadrà.

A special screening of *Malavia*, the film by Nunzia De Stefano, will take place on Thursday the 7th of May at 9.00 pm at the Multicinema Modernissimo (Via Cisterna dell’Olio, 49/59). The director will greet the audience alongside singer-songwriter, rapper and actor Giuseppe “PeppOh” Sica – one of the film’s leading actors – composer Speaker Cenzou, and leading actresses Daniela De Vita and Francesca Gentile.
Directed by Nunzia De Stefano, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Giorgio Caruso, the film is produced by Matteo Garrone, an Archimede and Rai Cinema production, distributed by Fandango. The cast includes Mattia Francesco Cozzolino alongside Junior Rodriguez, Ciro Esposito, Artem and Nicola Siciliano.
Malavia tells the story of Sasà, a thirteen-year-old street urchin from the outskirts of Naples. He spends his days with his two best friends, Cira and Nicolas, listening to rap music. Having grown up without a father, he lives alone with his young mother, Rusè.
There is a very deep bond between the two, which often leads to disproportionate jealousy from the son. A lover of hip hop and gifted with great musical talent, Sasà aspires to become a famous rapper to give his mother a better life.
His encounter with Yodi, a well-known rapper from the Neapolitan old school, seems to give his dream a boost and leads him to compose his first real track: a rap dedicated to Rusè. However, the clash with the cynical reality of the music world and the streets forces Sasà to abandon his aspirations and turn to crime in order to help his mother financially, finding himself dealing drugs in the school playground. When he is discovered, he risks losing everything.
Consumed by guilt, by the pain he has caused his mother and by the possibility of being sent to a children’s home, Sasà sinks into a deep depression. Only a new encounter with Yodi manages to break through to the boy’s soul, helping him rediscover the lost enthusiasm with which to face the future, whatever may happen.
