Stratigrafie della memoria. Al Centro caprense Ignazio Cerio, l’artista Marianna Iozzino presenta un progetto site-specific curato da Marina Guida, che lega idealmente la pittura contemporanea e le collezioni del museo. Inaugurazione domenica 2 agosto alle 20, seguirà drink al tramonto.
Il percorso espositivo riunisce quattro grandi tele a olio su lino grezzo e una serie di disegni su carta, concepiti come un’unica costellazione visiva attorno al tema della memoria intesa come processo di sedimentazione e trasformazione continua.
Il museo diventa dispositivo capace di generare nuove possibilità immaginative.
Le opere nascono dal dialogo diretto con i reperti custoditi nelle sale: in Uomo Alga la figura prende forma dall’osservazione delle alghe della collezione naturalistica, in un’identità fluida che precede ogni distinzione tra specie; Fregio animale muove dai resti di vertebrati terrestri rinvenuti durante gli scavi per l’ampliamento dell’Hotel Quisisana nel 1905; Anàthema (foto) dialoga con le teste votive e gli ex voto anatomici del museo, sospendendo l’immagine tra apparizione e reliquia; Metamorphosis raccoglie infine l’intero progetto in un’unica immagine instabile, dove umano, animale e vegetale convergono senza sintesi definitiva.
Anche i disegni, più che studi preparatori, restituiscono il momento più diretto del confronto con la collezione: i profili dei ciottoli della Grotta delle Felci, della scultura arcaica all’ingresso del museo, delle alghe e delle anatomie votive vengono ripresi, interrotti, sovrapposti, fino a perdere la loro funzione documentaria per diventare segni mobili.
La mostra restituisce il museo come organismo vivente dove il tempo propone una simultaneità di presenze.

Stratifications of Memory. At the Ignazio Cerio Center in Capri, artist Marianna Iozzino presents a site-specific project curated by Marina Guida, which conceptually links contemporary painting with the museum’s collections. Opening Sunday, the 2nd of August, at 8:00 p.m., followed by drinks at sunset.
The exhibition brings together four large oil paintings on raw linen and a series of drawings on paper, conceived as a single visual constellation centered on the theme of memory understood as a process of sedimentation and continuous transformation.
The museum becomes a device capable of generating new imaginative possibilities.
The works emerge from a direct dialogue with the artifacts housed in the galleries: in *Uomo Alga*, the figure takes shape from the observation of algae in the natural history collection, in a fluid identity that precedes any distinction between species; *Fregio animale* draws inspiration from the remains of terrestrial vertebrates unearthed during excavations for the expansion of the Hotel Quisisana in 1905; *Anàthema* (photo) engages with the museum’s votive heads and anatomical ex-votos, suspending the image between apparition and relic; finally, *Metamorphosis* brings the entire project together in a single unstable image, where human, animal, and plant converge without a definitive synthesis.
Even the drawings—more than mere preparatory studies—capture the most direct moment of engagement with the collection: the profiles of the pebbles from the Grotta delle Felci, the archaic sculpture at the museum’s entrance, the seaweed, and the votive anatomies are taken up, interrupted, and superimposed, until they lose their documentary function and become fluid signs.
The exhibition presents the museum as a living organism where time creates a simultaneity of presences.
