Brett Lloyd presentaNapoli, Napoli, Napoli“.

Tomas Dane Gallery/ British photographer Brett Lloyd presents his Naples in a book of black-and-white images

Brett Lloyd presents “Naples, Naples, Naples”. Book and black-and-white photographs that he has already shown in Milan, New York, London and Paris. The latest step is precisely the city that is the protagonist of his work.
Tomorrow, Saturday, April 1, the British photographer at the Thomas Dane Gallery (Via Francesco Crispi 69 – from noon to 6 p.m.), will present the last copies of the first print run of the book with 135 images (published by Mörel Books with art direction by the Milanese studio MACSIOTTI.) including three with limited-edition gold covers, and a selection of photographic prints.
The event is produced in collaboration with and in support of Friends of Naples, a nonprofit association that promotes the restoration and preservation of Naples’ artistic heritage.
The book develops a day in Naples, an excursion from dawn to dusk during which he meditates on classicism, the cathartic power of the sea and the unique influence of an ancient landscape. Lloyd’s camera not only captures the beauty of Naples but asks subjects to see themselves as participants in a seamless process between beauty and social rhythms spanning childhood, adolescence, adulthood and old age.
Explains the author, “I am thrilled to publish this book, which is the culmination of more than 12 years of passion for the city and its people. I did it for the friends I have met over the years in Naples who have generously shared their homes with me. One of the most beautiful consequences of the publication of my book that took place in Milan was the opportunity to work with the Friends of Naples association. Ever since I saw their beautiful restoration of Mattia Preti’s fresco on Porta San Gennaro, the desire to support them arose in me. The 10,000 euros raised in Milan through the sale of T-shirts and hats will go to a portion of the ongoing work in the Capece Minutolo Chapel in Naples Cathedral. The money will be used for a new lighting system in the chapel, which will illuminate the restored 13th-century frescoes so everyone can admire them.”
T-shirts and hats created by the Neapolitan design team Vienmnsuonno1926 were made to promote local businesses at the book launch.
On Sunday, April 2 (noon to 6 p.m.), it will be possible to admire Brett Lloyd’s photographic work at Hostaria La Vela in Marechiaro, which will host an exhibition of a selection of 24 photographs.
